Job Description

About the Company

We are a global aerospace and defense manufacturing leader producing next-generation aircraft systems, unmanned aerial platforms, advanced propulsion components, and mission-critical defense technologies. Our facilities support highly complex, precision-engineered production programs with strict regulatory, safety, and quality standards.

Operating within AS9100, FAA, and defense compliance frameworks, our manufacturing environment integrates advanced robotics, digital twin production systems, lean assembly lines, and multi-tier global supplier ecosystems.

As production demand scales across commercial aerospace and defense contracts, we are seeking a highly analytical, execution-driven Production Planner to ensure precise scheduling, resource alignment, and uninterrupted production flow in our high-complexity manufacturing environment.

This is not a basic scheduling role. This is a mission-critical production coordination position within a precision-regulated industry.

Job Function

The Production Planner will manage detailed production scheduling, material planning, capacity balancing, and workflow optimization across aerospace manufacturing lines. This role ensures alignment between engineering releases, supplier delivery timelines, labor allocation, and on-time program execution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed master production schedules (MPS) aligned with contract delivery commitments

  • Coordinate material requirements planning (MRP) and ERP system updates

  • Balance production capacity across machining, assembly, and quality inspection work centers

  • Collaborate with Procurement to align supplier delivery schedules with production timelines

  • Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) and resolve bottlenecks impacting throughput

  • Conduct demand forecasting and production load analysis

  • Support new program introductions and ramp-up planning

  • Analyze production performance metrics (OTD, cycle time, scrap rates)

  • Coordinate engineering change order (ECO) implementation within production schedules

  • Develop contingency plans for supply chain or capacity disruptions

  • Participate in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Prepare executive-level reporting dashboards on production KPIs

Strategic Support

  • Support long-term production capacity planning for multi-year aerospace programs

  • Contribute to operational risk mitigation strategies

  • Assist in capital planning decisions related to equipment expansion

  • Provide planning input during contract bidding and proposal phases

  • Support digital transformation initiatives related to smart manufacturing systems

  • Collaborate with Finance on inventory optimization and cost control initiatives

Job Qualifications and Requirements

  • 5–10+ years of experience in production planning within aerospace, defense, or advanced manufacturing

  • Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent)

  • Experience in regulated manufacturing environments (AS9100 preferred)

  • Knowledge of capacity planning and supply-demand balancing

  • Proficiency in data analysis and production forecasting tools

  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and BOM structures

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field

  • APICS CPIM or related certification preferred

Personal Capabilities and Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset

  • Detail-oriented with high precision standards

  • Ability to operate effectively under production pressure

  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills

  • Data-driven decision-making capability

  • High accountability for delivery timelines

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills

  • Resilience in dynamic manufacturing environments

Working Conditions

  • Primarily onsite within the manufacturing facility

  • Exposure to the production floor environment

  • Fast-paced, deadline-driven setting

  • Collaboration with engineering, procurement, and quality teams

  • High accountability for schedule accuracy and on-time delivery

Compensation & Benefits

Total Compensation Package: $100,000 – $218,000 USD

Compensation Includes:

  • Competitive base salary within stated range

  • Performance-based annual bonus

  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
