As demand variability increases and customer expectations continue to rise, inventory accuracy, visibility, and optimization have become mission-critical to operational performance and financial outcomes.

The Director of Inventory Control is a senior operational leader responsible for governing inventory accuracy, controls, analytics, and optimization strategies across a distributed network. This role ensures that inventory data integrity, cost efficiency, and service levels remain aligned with enterprise objectives while supporting growth, resilience, and operational agility.

This position is ideal for a seasoned supply chain leader who blends analytical rigor with operational expertise and who can build scalable inventory control frameworks across multi-site environments.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise-wide inventory control strategy, governance, and execution across warehouses, distribution centers, and fulfillment nodes.

  • Establish and maintain inventory accuracy standards, cycle count programs, reconciliation processes, and audit controls.

  • Oversee inventory forecasting, safety stock strategy, shrink mitigation, and obsolescence reduction initiatives.

  • Partner with Supply Chain, Finance, Operations, and Technology teams to align inventory practices with financial and service goals.

  • Implement advanced inventory analytics, reporting dashboards, and KPI frameworks to drive decision-making.

  • Lead root-cause analysis for inventory variances, service disruptions, and systemic control gaps.

  • Drive process standardization and continuous improvement across inventory workflows and operating models.

  • Support system enhancements including WMS, ERP, inventory planning tools, and automation initiatives.

  • Manage inventory compliance, documentation, and internal control requirements.

  • Build, mentor, and lead high-performing inventory control and analytics teams.


Job Qualifications and Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in inventory management, supply chain operations, or logistics leadership roles.

  • Proven experience managing inventory control programs across multi-site or enterprise environments.

  • Strong understanding of inventory planning, demand forecasting, replenishment, and cost-to-serve models.

  • Experience with ERP and WMS platforms and data-driven inventory optimization tools.

  • Demonstrated ability to partner with Finance on inventory valuation, reserve management, and working capital optimization.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Supply Chain, Operations, or Business preferred.

  • Strong executive communication skills and experience presenting operational insights to senior leadership.

  • Strengthen inventory governance and audit readiness across the organization.


Working Conditions

  • Remote-first leadership role with periodic travel to distribution centers, operations reviews, and strategic planning sessions.

  • Requires collaboration across multiple time zones with Supply Chain, Finance, and Operations teams.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $298,000 – $365,000

  • Annual performance-based bonus
