About the Role

In large, complex enterprises, risk management is no longer a defensive function focused solely on controls and mitigation. It is a strategic discipline that protects value, enables informed decision-making, and strengthens organizational resilience. We are seeking a Director of Risk Management to lead and mature enterprise risk programs across a diversified, highly regulated organization.

This role is designed for a senior leader who understands how to balance risk awareness with business agility. The Director of Risk Management will oversee enterprise risk identification, assessment, and mitigation strategies while partnering closely with executive leadership to ensure risk considerations are embedded into strategy, operations, and growth initiatives.

You will play a highly visible role working across Finance, Compliance, Legal, Operations, Technology, and Business Leadership to ensure risks are clearly understood, proactively managed, and effectively communicated. Your mandate is to elevate risk management from periodic assessment to a continuous, forward-looking capability that supports long-term enterprise performance.

This is not a narrow control role. It is a mandate to build risk management as a strategic advisory and governance function that enables confident decision-making at scale.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise risk management frameworks, processes, and governance structures.

  • Identify, assess, and prioritize strategic, operational, financial, and regulatory risks.

  • Partner with business leaders to integrate risk considerations into planning and execution.

  • Develop and maintain enterprise risk registers, dashboards, and reporting tools.

  • Oversee risk monitoring, mitigation plans, and issue remediation efforts.

  • Coordinate risk assessments across business units and functional teams.

  • Support regulatory examinations, audits, and risk-related inquiries.

  • Present risk insights, trends, and recommendations to executive leadership and committees.

  • Drive continuous improvement of risk methodologies and practices.

  • Build and lead high-performing risk management teams.


Job Qualifications and Requirements

  • 12 to 15 plus years of experience in risk management, enterprise risk, or governance roles.

  • Proven success leading risk programs within large, complex, or regulated organizations.

  • Strong understanding of financial, operational, regulatory, and strategic risk domains.

  • Experience working closely with executive leadership and Board-level committees.

  • Ability to translate complex risk concepts into actionable business insights.

  • Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or professional certification preferred.

  • Collaborate with Technology on operational and cyber risk initiatives.

  • Advise leadership on emerging risks, trends, and regulatory developments.

  • Base Salary: $250,000 – $378,000
